Can you believe the Consumer Electronic Show is on in Las Vegas now, already a full 12 months since we were introduced to new camcorder models from nearly all the major Manufacturers. Just like last year, we are being spoilt with new camcorder models, so here’s a rundown of what’s new for 2011 from the top 3 brands.

JVC

The Everio GS-TD1 is claimed to be the world’s first consumer camcorder to offer Full HD 3D recordings, and will be under $2,000 when available in March.

JVCs new GZ-HM960 also 3D will be under $950 when available next month.

Another new model is the GZ-HM30 entry-level model at $229.

Panasonic

Not to be outdone, Panasonic have 7 new models, HDC-SD40, HDC-TM40, HDC-HS80, HDC-TM80, HDC-SD80, and the HDC-TM90 and HDC-SD90, both full 1080/60p HD and both 3D capable by adding the optional 3D Conversion lens VW-CLT1.

Canon HD Camcorders

Canon introduced 8 new VIXIA HD camcorders including the Canon VIXIA HF M41, 3 new SD models and the Professional Canon XA10 Camcorder.

Sony has a new series, the PJ series, with 3 new models, HDR-PJ50V, the HDR-PJ30V, and the HDR-PJ10, all with an inbuilt projector, large hard drives and full 1080/60p.

Other new models are from Samsung, DXG, View Sonic and Kodak.

With the show still on there is still time for new models to be introduced from other manufacturers, and we will be reviewing every new camcorder over the next few weeks and months, but for now, here is a review of the new Kodak Playfull.
